What a great book for today!
I really enjoyed reading this book. In a time of the pandemic it's right on time. The authors speaks some great points about mankind and society. How humans have evolved and the direction we are going.
Editorial Reviews
"The Last Years of Human Life on Earth" by Donald Eisner follows the Lichten family over several decades as there is a dissent into the environmental abyss. Attempts were made to protect the citizens. An invention was patented but there were individuals who sabotaged such events. They had a laisse faire attitude- they were called L-Fers. Their view was "let nature take its course" and nature did take its course.
Once entrenched opinions are formed, no amount of contrary evidence will change one's mind. This is reminiscent of the 1950's theory of cognitive dissonance. No matter what evidence is shown, people will maintain their beliefs. Furthermore, there was a sweeping plague of malignant narcissism. And so, much of society embarked on a careless attitude. The land with destroyed, buildings turned into rubble, eventually the electrical grid was dysfunctional. Civilization had regressed back to what would seem like thousands of years ago. How will it all end?
Critique: Thoughtful and thought-provoking, "The Last Years of Human Life on Earth" by Donald Eisner is a deftly crafted work of apocalyptic science fiction that is all too rapidly becoming science fact with each passing decade. While also available in a digital book format (Kindle, $2.99), this paperback edition "The Last Years of Human Life on Earth" is highly recommended for personal reading lists and community library collections. A QUICK, INTERESTING READ!
An unusual take on several different subjects relevant to current times - global warming and pandemics among them, as well as the inability of the various countries of this planet to come together in times of world-wide crises. I don't want to give anything away, but the book is both fascinating and scary at the same time as it offers a look at the future. If I have any criticism at all, it's that the book is mostly exposition, with very little dialogue. That might be because the main character describes himself as reclusive, without friends or family, but I still think the book would be improved by giving him some more people with whom to talk. Overall, though, a satisfying read. I think you'll like it!

Exciting novel!
Eisner Chronicles is a very innovative and forward-thinking novel. This science fiction and fantasy story highlights a surreal journey into the multiverse. The author’s writing kept me entertained throughout in which enhanced my overall interest in Sci-Fi.
